The Kernels offense recorded 14 hits and 10 runs in the ballgame earlier today at Quad Cities. It was an early start time (11:00 a.m.) in Davenport, and the Kernels were wide awake.
The win gave the Kernels one victory out of four in the series.
This win showcased three keys for victories.
1.) Early scoring---The Kernels plated three runs in the 1st inning to take a 3-0 lead.
2.) Two Out Scoring---The Kernels scored all three runs in the 1st inning and four runs total with two outs.
3.) Good starting pitching---Brian Diemer (5-3) went six innings and allowed only one run.
The team begins a seven game home stand tomorrow at Perfect Game Field (3 games against Clinton and 4 games against Peoria) It's important to take care of business against Clinton and Peoria. Clinton has struggled this season with an 11-34. Peoria currently is tied in the lead for the wild card spot, three games ahead of the Kernels.
