Women provided information, options

A recent letter published in The Gazette needs to be corrected (“Children from rape, incest have right to life,” May 6).
The writer stated that Planned Parenthood does not provide a woman with all available options when facing a pregnancy. While we may not agree with a decision a woman makes regarding a pregnancy, we can agree that providing all the information she needs, including information on adoption services, is important to help her make her decision. Planned Parenthood does just that, without judging a woman or her situation.
Also, Planned Parenthood is committed to helping women who decide adoption is their best choice. Last year, Planned Parenthood provided more adoption referrals in Iowa than any other organization.
Further, the lack of empathy shown for any woman victimized by sexual assault truly saddens me. I just hope that people can learn to be more compassionate for someone who has gone through a terrible act of violence and understand the difficult, emotional situation she faces.
