Fire rekindles at abandoned house in flood zone
Firefighters returned to a flood-damaged house Friday morning after a blaze the day before rekindled.
Crews responded around 10:40 a.m. when light smoke was reported coming from the roof at 505 Ninth St. SW. They used a chainsaw to cut a hole near the chimney, and doused some small flames with water.
Authorities
classified Thursday's fire as arson, after a mattress and candles were found inside. Police had reports of a homeless person possibly using the abandoned house for shelter.
