It's easy to pick a good candidate for Congress. Really. Just look at candidates' background and track record. Breadth and depth of experience? Consistent focus and achievement?
Fortunately, we have one District 1 congressional candidate who brings professional experience to the table: Business development and operations (she's met payrolls), market and consumer research, strategic planning, education (University of Iowa B.A. and M.B.A.), public relations and news reporting.
Her considerable community service includes more than 30 years of solid active involvement and leadership roles - two-term Cedar Rapids City Council member, mayor pro tem, city planning/zoning, Junior League of Cedar Rapids and a great deal more.
And while all that was going on, she married and raised three active daughters. Plus, she founded, built and managed a successful service business. Her former company, Vernon Research Group, is a national business that deals with understanding how people think and why they do the things they do (pretty good experience for a member of Congress).
This extremely accomplished candidate is Monica Vernon. I'm glad she's decided to run for the U.S. House. Join me in supporting her in the June 3 primary.
