Clarence E. Downs, 74, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Thursday, May 27, 2021. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday June 2, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. A livestream of the funeral service may be accessed on the funeral home website tribute page for Clarence, under "photos and videos or media," starting at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 2.
Clarence was born on Feb. 3, 1947, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Clarence and Virginia (Akers) Downs. He served in the U.S. Army. Clarence was united in marriage to Betty Ann Chambers on June 5, 1990, in Cedar Rapids. He worked at Century Cab for 10 years.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Downs; daughters, Tracy Downs and Dorothy Downs; sister, Darlene (Roger) Zeien; stepson, David Chambers; stepdaughter, Sharon Chambers; grandsons, Tonie Chambers and Eric Wiuff; sister-in-law, Chris Downs; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tammy; and brother, Albert Downs.
