Vigilance required to protect our freedom
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Mar. 26, 2012 12:22 am
Americans have never faced greater threats to their freedoms than we face today. With all the mischief afoot in Washington, D.C., with the present administration constantly violating the U.S. Constitution, Thomas Jefferson's warning stands out, “The price of liberty is eternal vigilance.”
Benjamin Franklin once said that the Founding Fathers had given us “a Republic. If you can keep it.”
Ronald Reagan cautioned that “freedom is always only one generation from extinction.”
We must be eternally vigilant to keep our Republic, to ensure that what so many gave their lives to protect does not perish, that freedom does not become extinct during our watch.
