Deficit article needed more prominence
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Sep. 26, 2012 1:21 pm
On Sept. 19, The Gazette printed an article by Scott Burns, titled “Will the real federal deficit please stand up?” This should have been on Page 1A rather than 6B, where few will have noticed.
The facts presented are more important to the future of the United States than anything on Page 1. The gap between federal income and spending illustrated in this article portrays a tsunami of biblical proportions hanging over our own old age and the future of our children and grandchildren.
The rate of federal debt growth is rising at an exponential rate. No one on the national stage is proposing any action with even a chance of stopping this impending disaster.
I hope The Gazette will reprint the article in a much more prominent position in the hope everyone will begin to realize the extent of the threat to our way of life.
