Abortion is not safe and should not be legal

A Jan. 5 letter writer defended keeping abortion “safe and legal.” Where is her logic?
Abortion takes an innocent life and is not a desirable or necessary medical procedure. Zoey Gainey raises the question of a fetus that is not viable. In that case, nature will take charge. Abortion is not the answer. Can Gainey produce the “countless stories” of women whose lives were “in danger” if they did not have an abortion? Pregnancy is normal and abortions often are used to hide a pregnancy – like one because of a one-night stand or, too often, one resulting from an adult male taking advantage of an underage girl. The biggest reason for abortion is money - for Planned Parenthood.
Planned Parenthood always insists we need to keep abortion safe and legal. But, since abortion takes the life of a baby, how is it safe? Neither should it be legal.
Our lawmakers have much to answer for allowing these innocent lives to be destroyed. Voters also are responsible for the morality of laws being enacted by those we've elected.
