Hayek, Dobyns stand above other candidates

There's a fairly large stable of candidates running for city council in Iowa City, but in my book, two stand head and shoulders above the others: Matt Hayek and Rick Dobyns.
I've had the honor of working with Matt on the council for nearly four years. While we don't always agree, I know that Matt comes to his decisions thoughtfully, considering both his own internal compass and input from constituents. Matt's an advocate for our downtown and our older neighborhoods and is a tireless worker. He also has a great sense of humor. Creative and a man of great integrity, Matt has been a very effective mayor and deserves another four years on council.
Rick also has a great store of integrity, smarts and humor, and comes to his decisions in a considered, thoughtful manner. He's a hard worker as well and Rick “gets it” when it comes to issues involving our core neighborhoods, downtown
(re)development and bike/pedestrian concerns, among others. He will be a strong and vocal advocate for the issues I believe we need to keep on the front burner.
Rick has a proven ability to listen and work with others. Check out his website at www.dobyns

These views are mine alone, and do not represent those of any other member of the city council or the city of Iowa City.
