Rodriguez to Fort Myers, Altobelli joins Kernels

Aug. 2, 2013 2:39 pm
The Minnesota Twins announced Friday afternoon that catcher Jairo Rodriguez of the Cedar Rapids Kernels has been promoted to high-Class A Fort Myers and will replaced on the Kernels' active roster by catcher Bo Altobelli.
Altobelli has been at Rookie-level Elizabethton, where he hit .300 in seven games. A 21st-round pick from Texas Tech in 2012, Altobelli hit .230 with six RBIs in 18 games last season at Elizabethton.
Rodriguez played in 16 games this season for Cedar Rapids, hitting .140 with four RBIs. He has seen previous time this season at Fort Myers and Triple-A Rochester.
The moves were caused by the Twins trading Triple-A catcher Drew Butera earlier this week. Cedar Rapids is at Burlington on Friday night, then begins a home series Saturday night with Quad Cities.
