To the editor:
It is a sad day when a freshman senator writes a treasonous letter to a foreign government. But it is even sadder that Iowa two senators committed treason by signing the letter in support of said treason. Per the Logan act which says, 'Any citizen of the United States, wherever he may be, who, without authority of the United States, directly or indirectly commences or carries on any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government or of any officer or agent thereof, in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.”
They did not have the consent of the government which would be the executive branch and it didn't fall under the advise and consent of the Senate as it was directly addressed to a foreign government. The two Iowa senators have proved they are not fit to hold the position of trust of the people of the state of Iowa. They and the other 45 senators should face a trial for their treasonous act.
