Daniel P. Hoffmann, 84, of Sun City West, Ariz., and formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died on May 24, 2021, at Brookdale Camino Del Sol, in Sun City West, after a long illness.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 4, at St. Pius X Catholic Church. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday June 3, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, where a vigil service will begin at 4 p.m. Burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. He was born in Luxemburg, Iowa, on Dec. 15, 1936, to Al and Catherine (Rausch) Hoffmann. The Hoffmann family moved to Dyersville when Dan was in second grade and he attended St. Francis Xavier grade school. Dan met the love of his life, Karol Kramer, in second grade. He graduated from Xavier High School in 1954, then served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956- 1960. On June 3, 1961, Dan and Karol were married at Basilica of St. Francis Xavier in Dyersville, Iowa. While working full-time, he attended Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, to complete his bachelor's degree in 1962. Dan retired from Rockwell International Corporation as a Senior Contract Manager in the Collins Avionics & Communications Division - Defense Electronics. He was a former member of St. Pius X Church, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, as well as Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Sun City West, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Al and Catherine Hoffmann; and his sisters, Mary Ellen Hoffmann and Carolyn Hoffmann (Heeren).
He is survived by his wife, Karol; daughters, Kim Rickert and Amy Hoffmann; sons, Jay Hoffmann, Scott Hoffmann (Donna) and Jeff Hoffmann (Kathleen); 10 grandchildren, Abby and Quincy Milloy, Weston, Trenton and Parker Hoffmann, Molly Pitts, Brock Hoffmann, Joshua and Samuel Hoffmann and Lauryn Hopkins; as well as two great-grandchildren, Ainsley Pitts and Clara Hoffmann. Also surviving is his brother, Steve Hoffmann (Sue).
