A religious history of protesting greed
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Nov. 14, 2011 12:03 pm
When Jesus Christ was a young man, his first Christian act was in the temple when he overturned tables and chairs and opened the cages so the birds would be free. He did this to protest the greed of the money exchangers and counters.
Now it's 2000 years later and the Occupy Wall Street protesters are protesting the big banks and Wall Street, the modern-day money changers and counters who have stolen their futures and their children's futures. So where are all our religious leaders today; is this not a revelation straight out of the Bible? Or is modern-day religion just a ploy to bleed us out of our money, so they can stay in power?
What if this is Jesus Christ's second coming and all of our religious leaders are sitting back saying these people are just a bunch of trash making noise? It would be just like the first time around 2000 years ago.
