It is encouraging to me to see so many individuals of various backgrounds being willing to run as mayor of Cedar Rapids and also for the City Council. This speaks well of our citizens and their desire for community involvement. One candidate stands out as one who would very capably serve as mayor, and that is Kris Gulick.
His list of accomplishments includes 12 years on the City Council. As past president of the Iowa League of Cities, plus as an executive board member of the National League of Cities, he could bring much expertise to this important leadership. Kris was a real source of encouragement to those in my neighborhood who opposed a developer wanting to turn a wooded property into condominiums. He actively listened to our concerns, and I am convinced that he would do so in other city concerns as well.
I wholeheartedly support him as our new mayor of Cedar Rapids.
