For those who are undecided about voting for Marion's next mayor, please consider what Nick Glew has already done for the community. Besides serving as a member of the City Council, he has emerged as an effective team player and hardworking volunteer. Nick served on the Marion Chamber's Imagine8 Steering Committee because he understood the need for a community visioning process. Through Imagine8, every voice was heard, and the resulting Great 8 ideas, which are now being implemented, will help make Marion the place all community members can feel proud to call home.
When the time was right for the city to apply to become an official Great Place in Iowa, Nick worked behind the scenes and spoke enthusiastically to the Great Places team when they toured Uptown Marion. Thanks to its successful bid, the community has received tremendous support through public and private partnerships to fund high-priority Imagine8 projects.
Recently, Nick stepped up again to help jump start Marion's application to become an official Main Street community. This designation would add vitality to Uptown Marion and assist with the preservation of its historic buildings. It's an exciting time for this growing community, and if elected as mayor, Nick will continue to work respectfully with area residents, business owners and organizations to make Marion an increasingly more vibrant destination. Let's keep the momentum moving forward!
