Human papillomavirus – or HPV - is a widespread virus that will infect an estimated 75-percent of U.S. males and females in their lifetime. In most cases the HPV clears on its own. But for others, HPV could cause cervical, vaginal and vulvar cancers in females; and genital warts, cancers of the oropharynx, anus and penis in males. Many of these cancers are potentially preventable with HPV vaccines.
Join Sharon Bertroche, MD, MercyCare family physician, at a special educational seminar to learn more about HPV, recommendations for vaccination and preventative measures. This seminar takes place on Mon., March 18 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.at the Hall-Perrine Cancer Center Community Room.
This discussion is especially important for parents of children ages 11 to 18. To learn more, call (319) 398-6452. Registration is not required.
