Trust neighbors or outside casinos?

I am not an investor in the proposed Cedar Rapids casino, but I strongly support the project.
My family and I moved to Cedar Rapids about 25 years ago and have come to deeply appreciate our community. Over the years, we and our company have been consistent and active community supporters. Our city deserves to continue toward an ever brighter future. This is why I favor the proposed casino.
The west side of our downtown has had a difficult time recovering from the devastating flood of 2008. The proposed casino is just the catalyst needed to fuel the redevelopment of that area, which rightfully and naturally should be a part of the heart of our downtown.
When I look who is behind financing both “Vote Yes” and “Just Say No” campaigns, I feel even more strongly about my support. The “Vote Yes” financing comes from lifelong Cedar Rapidians whom I know. They have the best interests of our community in mind. The “Just Say No” financing largely comes from Riverside and Waterloo casinos that only have their own pocketbooks in mind.
