This is Paki O'Meara's chance to show that recruiting pedigrees don't tell the whole story.
The junior will start at running back for the Hawkeyes when they face Northern Iowa on Saturday.
He started his career at Iowa as a walk-on. After playing on all special teams and seeing a handful of plays at RB last season, he was put on scholarship this spring.
Tuesday, he was officially put on notice. With sophomore RB Jewel Hampton declared out for the season with an ACL injury, O'Meara is the lead back in a group of four that'll be Iowa's running back by committee.
