Penford’s jobs, park are worthwhile

I don't understand some people's thinking. I'm of Czech heritage and very proud of it and also proud of our beautiful National Czech & Slovak Library & Museum.
If people look back, the industry in Cedar Rapids was a very big reason for our Czech ancestors to come to Cedar Rapids. Mr. Sinclair made housing available for a lot of Czechs to come to Cedar Rapids from the old country. We had Wilson Sinclair, Quaker Oats, Douglas Starch, National Oats, Allison Chalmers, Cargill, Iowa Steel and many other industries for employment of these people. Our city has grown on these industries and many others.
Fifty new jobs, in an economy as it is, is a no-brainer. Penford has agreed to move the park and beautify the area. Move the park three blocks north to the old Iowa Steel and Iron Works area. I support the Penford expansion and the Czech Museum and my heritage.
