'Please and thank you' robber uses rock as weapon in Des Moines

A man apparently desperate for money for his family robbed Big Lots in Des Moines on Thursday night by threatening a clerk with a rock. ... Police said the man was polite, using the words please and thank you. He referred to the clerk as "sweetie" and "honey," ... he repeatedly told the clerk he has three children.
