Iowa notes: Cartwright will play
Dec. 9, 2011 5:28 pm
AMES - Iowa point guard Bryce Cartwright will play but not start against Iowa State, Iowa Coach Fran McCaffery said tonight.
Cartwright did not play Tuesday in Iowa's 80-60 loss at Northern Iowa. Sophomore Devyn Marble will start for the second straight game at point guard.
Cartwright, a senior, averages 6.8 points a game and leads the team with 34 assists.

McCaffery said Iowa will pay special attention to Iowa State forward Royce White, who leads the Cyclones in scoring (14.8), rebounding (9.9), assists (4.2), blocks (1.2) and field-goal percentage (52.6 percent). White, a 6-foot-8 forward, often brings the ball up the court and also plays in the post as a power forward.
"You better be close to him," McCaffery said. "He's got some stuff off the dribble, too. He's got some game on top of the fact he can make shots. He makes big shots so you've got to pay attention to him.
"You've got to mark him, you've got to stay after him, you've got to be aware of where he is defenses. If we're pressing, where is he?"
