Montague, Genevieve 'Jean' Mary

Genevieve “Jean” Mary Montague, 93, of Cedar Rapids, died at Willow Gardens Care Center, Marion, on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012, after a lengthy illness. Services: 1 p.m. Saturday at Teahen Funeral Home, by the Rev. Craig Bex. Burial: Mound Cemetery in Benton County. Friends may visit with the family Saturday after noon at the funeral home.

Survivors include a granddaughter Julie (David) Willets of Overland Park, Kan.; a grandson, Jeff Pratt of Batavia, Ill.; and four great-grandchildren, Zach and Allie Brachtenbach and Austin and Kayla Pratt.

She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy; her daughter, Jo Ann Pratt; and her son-in-law, Floyd Pratt.

Jean was born Sept. 15, 1919, in Louisville, Ky., the daughter of Jacob and Anna Yurt Geppert, and was united in marriage to LeRoy Frank Montague on Feb. 6, 1945, in Cedar Rapids. She was employed by the Roosevelt Hotel as a housekeeper in her early years and was an avid bingo player in her later years.

Jean was a loving and caring woman and will be missed by her family and friends.

Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
