Police are looking for a suspect in a daytime robbery Friday along First Avenue in Cedar Rapids.
Officers were dispatched shortly before 10:30 a.m. to the 1300 block of First Avenue NE. Christopher Danser, 48, of Cedar Rapids, told police he was robbed near a pawn shop. No serious injuries were reported.
Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said in a news release the suspect asked Danser for money, and when he said he didn't have any money, the suspect displayed a handgun in his waistband. The suspect reached for Danser's wallet, and he fought back by punching the suspect, Hamblin said.
The suspect did not get any money or property, and ran south on 14th Street SE, police said.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic man wearing blue jeans and denim jacket over a gray hooded sweat shirt. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at (319) 286-5491.
