Linn County deputies deserve our thanks

Linn County Sheriff's deputies are greatly under appreciated. I know their paramedics can get to the small towns faster. They are needed more than the bureaucrats who live in Cedar Rapids and Marion. I have friends in Springville and other small towns and if they need paramedics, I want them to be there.
The deputies at the jail are doing more than their share and are still courteous and respectful to the visitors. They keep the inmates safe. Inmates are citizens, too. The deputies are nice to them as long as they are courteous and respectful to the deputies. Respect is earned and appreciated. It goes both ways, and our deputies deserve our thanks, not our criticism.
