Detert, Phyllis Kathleen
Phyllis Kathleen Detert, 80, died in her home on Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, temporarily located at 3100 F Ave. NW, with the Rev. Glenn Hunt presiding. Burial will follow in Shueyville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids.
Phyllis Kathleen was born June 20, 1929, near Troy Mills, the daughter of Gershom “Jim” and Liddie Kaplan Cook. She married Don Detert on Oct. 26, 1957, at Knox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids. She worked as a waitress for several restaurants, including Sorenson's Cafeteria at Rockwell-Collins. She enjoyed Czech music and playing bingo. She was a member of Women of the Moose No. 515 and Hanford American Legion Auxiliary Unit 5.
Phyllis Kathleen is survived by her husband, Don; a sister, Ellen Virginia Mackey of Center Point; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Orville Cook; and a brother-in-law, Robert T. Mackey.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
