Files, Carleen M.
Carleen M. Files, 68, of Iowa City, died suddenly Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010, at Mercy Iowa City.Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, at the Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday,before the service. Internment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City.

Carleen Mae Files was born Sept. 8, 1942, daughter of Carl E. Files and LaVonne A. Hines. She graduated from Iowa City's City High School in 1961. After school, she worked at Mercy Hospital as a nurse aid for 13 years. After that she worked for Economy Printing for 35 years, until her retirement. She enjoyed the work she did as a binding helper.Carleen was a very simple woman who loved time spent outdoors, especially in her garden. She also enjoyed time indoors working on crosswords or catching an episode of one of many favorite forensic TV shows. Carleen also had many regular pen pals and always treasured the letters and she received from them.
She will be missed by her sister, Sandra Files and her aunt, Hazel Capps.
Her family also includes many cousins in the Eastern Iowa area.
Carleen was preceded in death by her parents and grandmother, Neva Mae Reed; and grandfather, Pearl Files.
