Marth, Richard 'Dick' D.
CEDAR RAPIDS - Richard “Dick” D. Marth, 77, of Cedar Rapids, died Oct. 16, 2010, at Northbrook Manor Care Center following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Carroll Brown will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Private inurnment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy; children, Luann (Doug) Hiratzka of Coralville, Christopher (Rhonda) Marth of Westerville, Ohio, Andrew (Holly) Marth of Florida, Julia (Hubert) Reinhartz of Colorado, and Matthew (Mary) Marth of Vienna, Austria; stepdaughter, Jill (David) DeForest Colvig of Des Moines; a brother, Harold (Bonnie) Marth of Rockford; a sister, Janet (Wayne) Rawley of Iowa City; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers and sisters.
Richard Dale Marth was born Oct. 16, 1933, in Floyd County, Iowa, the son of Henry and Anna (Adolph) Marth. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force, stationed in Germany. He was employed for several years at Rockwell Collins as a machinist foreman. He later was owner and operator of Dick Marth Inc., building homes in the Cedar Rapids area.
He enjoyed wood working and listening to classical music.
He will be greatly missed by his family.
Memorial donations may be made to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for Parkinson's disease research.
