Lou "Bud" Nilles, 84, died Saturday, April 5, 2014, in Green Valley, Ariz.
Lou was a graduate of Immaculate Conception High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and later General Motors Automotive School in Flint, Mich.
On Sept. 20, 1952, while he was serving in the Iowa Air National Guard, Lou married Norma Jean Florang in Alexandria, La. Lou worked for AC Spark Plug in Cedar Rapids and in Bismarck, N.D. Norma and Lou raised their children in Naperville, Ill., while he taught auto mechanics at Joliet Junior College in Joliet, Ill. They moved to Green Valley, Ariz., in 1993.
Surviving Lou are their six children, Steve (Dolores) Nilles, Jane (Patrick) DeShazo, Tom (Charisse) Nilles, Jim (Martha) Nilles, Bill Nilles and Matt Nilles; their mother, Norma; and eight grandchildren. Also remaining are his brother, Gerald "Jerry" (Monica) Nilles; sisters, Joan (John) McAreavy and Carol Nilles; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Louis J. and Anne Nilles; and his sister, Marie.
Lou donated his body to the University of Arizona.
