Former Rider Donovan makes U.S. junior national team

University of Denver freshman and former Cedar Rapids RoughRider Matt Donovan has made the United States National Junior hockey team that will compete in the upcoming World Junior Championships in Canada.
Donovan is one of seven defensemen on the roster, which was announced Wednesday. He played two seasons in Cedar
Rapids and was drafted by the NHL's New York Islanders.
Other recognizable names include goalie Mike Lee, who played for Fargo in the USHL last season. Also on the team are Philip McRae (son of former NHLer Basil), John Ramage (son of former NHLer Rob) and Ryan Bourque (son of former NHLer Ray).
The U.S. plays its first game in the tournament Saturday night at 7 against Slovakia, a game carried on the NHL Network.
