Answer these questions about our beliefs
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Nov. 24, 2011 9:00 am
Does tolerance mean that we reject the belief that there is both right and wrong in the world we live in?
Does accepting one's right to practice his own chosen lifestyle, mean we have to agree that such a lifestyle is morally right? Does forgiveness of a wrong mean we must excuse it?
Are there any actions or conducts that all would agree are wrong? Such as rape? Can one who believes homosexuality is wrong also still love the individual homosexual? Does the statement “I was born this way” excuse the kleptomaniac for his stealing things? Do we mortals still have the power of choice? Can we expect our bad choices have no bad consequences?
Can some cases of intolerance be a blessing in our society in general? How we answer these questions, as individuals and as a society, is bound to have a profound effect on us personally, and on our civilization as a whole.
