Brooks Sr., Gary L.
Gary L. Brooks Sr., 68, of Cedar Rapids, died Dec. 23, 2010, at Northbrook Manor Care Center following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Visitation will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 46 years, Beverly; sons, Gary Brooks Jr. of Cedar Rapids, and Brad (Wendy) Brooks of North Liberty; daughter, Bobbie Brooks of Cedar Rapids; grandson, Ki Emanuel of Cedar Rapids; sister, Yvonne Morrison of Des Plaines, Ill.; and brother, Gerald Brooks of Arlington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and three infant children, Jonnie Dee Brooks, Lillian Brooks and Gary Dee Brooks.
Gary L. Brooks Sr. was born Dec. 7, 1942, in Volga, Iowa, the son of Guy and Ruth (Maser) Brooks. He was united in marriage to Beverly West on Oct. 24, 1964, in Cedar Rapids. He was a machine operator at Ralston Foods for his entire career. He enjoyed playing cards and above all, time spent with his family. He will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
