Allan Charles Bachman,
83, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2021. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 27, with visitation from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Al was born April 9, 1938, in Van Horne, Iowa. He was the oldest son of Charles and Ruby Bachman. He married Karen Kay Reiter on Feb. 14, 1970, in Westgate, Iowa.
He attended the University of Iowa, where he graduated with an accounting degree, was a letter winner and pitched for the Iowa Hawkeye baseball team. He continued to show his love for the University of Iowa by being a proud season ticket holder for the Iowa Hawkeye football team for over 50 years. Al was also a die-hard Cubs fan, enjoyed making breakfast for his grandchildren, doing crossword puzzles in the newspaper each day and eating a good medium-rare steak on Saturday night.
Al was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids.
He is survived by his brothers, Steve (Sylvia) Bachman and Charles (Karen) Bachman; his sister, Linda (Steve) Wallace; sister-in-law, Gloria (Larry) Smith; daughter, Andrea Bachman; son, David (Deanna) Bachman; and three grandchildren, Bryce, Luke and Olivia Bachman.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Karen Bachman.
Memorial donations may be made in his honor to Bethany Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
