Former Hostess Brands workers invited to informational meeting

Hostess Brands workers whose jobs were eliminated in the past 16 months can learn about reemployment options at an informational meeting next week.

The meeting for individuals let go since Nov. 11, 2011, will cover possible reemployment services, including training, job relocation and possible wage subsidies and tax credits. Deadlines and time frames also will be reviewed.

Those who attend can complete paperwork to determine eligibility for the services under the Trade Act of 2011.

About 80 employees were affected when the Hostess plant in Waterloo closed Nov. 16.

The meeting, set for 9:30 a.m., Friday, April 5, will be held at the Cedar Rapids IowaWORKS Center at the Lindale Mall, 4444 First Ave. NE, room 37. Former employees who are unable to attend can get information by calling the local IowaWORKS office at (319) 365-9474.
