Jackson County hunting accident sends one person to the hospital

A Wisconsin man was injured while hunting deer in Jackson County Sunday morning.
Kevin Bourland, 37, of Hazel Green, WI, was helping a friend locate a deer that had been shot the previous day when a 20-gauge shotgun that had been propped against a tree fell, causing the gun to fire a deer slug into his thumb after he reached for it, according to a Iowa Department of Natural Resources press release.
Bourland was taken to Finely Hospital in Dubuque where he was treated.
