May. 29, 2011 8:26 am
IOWA CITY - Investigators say one man was taken to jail after Iowa City police say he stabbed another man.
Iowa City Police responded to 2104 Davis Street, on the city's southeast side, after receiving a call of a fight in progress on Friday night.
Upon arrival, they found one man with a stab wound to his arm. Police say the suspect, Timothy Wilkins, 34, was found nearby with a knife. He faces burglary, willful injury, and going armed with intent charges.
Wilkins was observed with a large knife in his right hand. Wilkins had allegedly kicked in a neighboring door and began to fight with a man inside, punching and pushing him. Wilkins then cut the individual on the left upper arm, causing a “large laceration.” Wilkins then proceeded to stab the wall “a couple times” before leaving the residence.
The injured man escaped through a bedroom window and was transported to the hospital for treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
Wilkins was being held at the Johnson County Jail on a $35,000 cash bond on Sunday morning.
