One hurt in northeast Cedar Rapids garage fire
One man was hospitalized after a garage fire in northeast Cedar Rapids early Friday.
The fire was first reported around 12:15 a.m. in a garage near 1221 Sierra Drive NE, near the Forest Ridge Apartments. When firefighters got to the scene, they found a 45-year-old man in the parking lot near the burning garage. He was taken to St. Luke's Hospital.
Fire crews were able to contain the fire to the garage. Two vehicles were destroyed in the fire, and the garage is considered a total loss.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The victim's name and condition were not immediately available.
