Milden, Betty J.
Betty J. Milden, 90, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Dan Kolander of First Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home and after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the chapel.
Survivors include her husband of over 66 years, Wally; two sons, James and wife Rose and Dr. Gary and wife Susie, all of Cedar Rapids; two grandsons, Matthew and Nathan; two granddaughters, Katie and Molly; and a great-grandson, Elliott.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Hazel Frick.
Betty graduated from Ohio State University, with a degree as a registered medical technologist. After graduation she worked at the Cleveland Clinic. After meeting her husband, who was in Akron at that time, she moved to Akron, where they were married. She then took a job at City Hospital, where she headed up the Blood Bank and on occasion would call on Wally to donate blood. The Mildens eventually moved to Cedar Rapids, where she worked part-time at the lab at St. Luke's Hospital for 26 years.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Elmcrest Country Club, Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority, and Chapter GM of PEO. She enjoyed golf, bowling, bridge, gardening, traveling and wintering in Florida.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or First Lutheran Church.
