A handgun belonging to an Indianola police officer was stolen from the officer's squad car while she was on vacation.
Indianola Police Chief Steve Bonnett says Officer Mesha Wagner noticed Sunday someone stole her Glock 9mm pistol from the city squad car parked on a street.
According to Bonnett, someone had rummaged through the vehicle, but nothing else was stolen.
Bonnett says as response to the theft, police officials may revisit the department's policy that allows officers to store weapons in their vehicles. He says at times it is better for officer to keep the guns in a car when off duty.
Bonnett says Wagner will not face disciplinary action because of the disappearance of her gun.
