Haupert, Irene T.
Irene T. Haupert, 78, of Coralville, formerly of Washington, died Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, at Lantern Park Care Center following an extended illness. Memorial mass will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. Ivan Nienhaus to officiate. Friends may call at the church after 9:30 a.m. Thursday. Inurnment will take place at Iowa Veteran's Cemetery, Van Meter. Arrangements entrusted to Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, 319-393-8000.
Surviving are her siblings, Marcella Reed of Washington and Mark (Holly) Haupert of Sigourney; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and an infant sister.
Irene was born Sept. 28, 1931, in rural Keokuk County, the daughter of Frank and Tresie (Highberger) Haupert. She served in the United States Army as a nurse from 1960 to 1981. She was formerly a member of St. James Catholic Church in Washington. She will be greatly missed by her family.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Iowa City Hospice, or the National Kidney Foundation.
