State and federal aid to Cedar Rapids and Linn County since the flood has topped $1 billion, according to information compiled by the Rebuild Iowa Office.
The latest figure is $1.044 billion, drawn from a series of agencies and programs with a dizzying array of acronyms. The dollars include individual assistance to flood victims from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and Small Business Administration loans, to federal tax credits from the Iowa Finance Authority and grants from the Economic Development Administration.
The biggest numbers are $350 million from FEMA to rebuild public infrastructure, $189 million in community development block grants from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, $149 million in loans from the Small Business Association and $115 million in I-JOBS grants.
The money is at various points in the pipeline to Cedar Rapids. Some has already been disbursed, while other dollars are working their way through the system.
