Hawthorn, Daniel Robert

Daniel Robert Hawthorn, 39, of Cedar Rapids, went to be with the Lord Thursday, May 5, 2011, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Memorial services: 10 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, by the Rev. Jack Forrester. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Danny is survived by his father, Harry (Judy) Hawthorn; his sister, Mary Prignitz, with whom he lived; brothers, Jack (Lynda) Forrester, Virgil Schmickle and Jeff (Kristi) Hawthorn; others siblings, Yvonne Hawthorn, Deb (Rick) Hawthorn, Joe (Karen) Hawthorn and Doug Hawthorn; and several aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Attaway; brother-in-law, Timothy Prignitz; and grandparents.

Danny was a forklift operator for Schenker Logistics.

He was an avid NASCAR fan and liked Ohio State basketball and football. He also loved to watch movies and listen to music.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Mercy Health Plaza Dialysis unit and Hospice of Mercy.
