Calling political parties ‘enemies’ unnecessary

Regarding the Aug. 25 article, “Changing landscape has presidential hopefuls campaigning behind enemy lines”:

I highlighted the word “enemy.” The story was about Republican candidates campaigning in Democratic-supported counties and vice versa. I hear all the time that the media does not create the news, but that they report it. Just look through that Saturday's news (homicide, Johnson County shooting, teen attack, sex abuse case, Pakistan and Syrian strikes, Empire State Building shooting) - you get the picture.

Don't we have enough hatred in the world without our local paper promoting it through their headlines? I did not think we were enemies (Democrats, Republicans), just parties that have our differences. My church has both parties attending.

I am thankful we live in a country where we have the freedom to have multiple parties and can vote. The media does impact the reader and we do not need them promoting more division, anger and hatred.
