Four area teachers honored by governor

Four area teachers were honored at the Iowa Teacher of The Year luncheon Friday in Des Moines.

The Iowa Teacher of the Year is Charity Campbell, Norwalk Middle School, Norwalk.

Iowa Teacher of the Year Finalists: Vickie Weber, Springville High School, Springville / Brenda Becker, Maquoketa Valley Middle School, Delhi / Amy Lockhart, Northern University School/Malcolm Price Laboratory School, Cedar Falls. The fifth finalist being honored is Deadra Stanton, Mason City High School, Mason City.

The teachers were nominated by peers, administrators, students, or community members. They go through a lengthy screening process before the five finalists are chosen. Those finalists do interviews with a select panel and are honorees at the annual luncheon.
