LaVerne I. Moennich Adams, 87, of Marion, Iowa, passed away May 20, 2021.
A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, at Cedar Memorial; followed by a graveside service at 2 p.m. at the Conroy Cemetery.
LaVerne was born in Homestead and grew up in Conroy. She met her husband Frank at the Conroy roller rink. They were married in 1951, and in 1955 they moved to California with their first three children, where they spent the next 30-plus years raising their beautiful family of five children before moving back to Iowa.
LaVerne is survived by Francis, her loving husband of 69 years; her children, Marcia Oravik of Sacramento, Calif.; Betty Adams (daughter-in-law) of Iowa City; Terry (Bev) Adams of Brookings, Ore.; Gloria (Joe Sthen) of Brookings, Ore.; and Cindy (Larry Hill) of Madison, Ala.; 10 wonderful grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by three sisters, Florence Martinson, Ethel Mumm and Elaine Hulseberg; and many special nieces and nephews who were very close to her.
LaVerne was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth; her parents, Christian and Lydia Huedepohl Moennich; a brother, Arnold Moennich; and a sister, Medora Hopp.
Memorial donations can be made to Avalon Hospice in her name or directly to family.
