Ruth A. Freeburg, 61, of Marshalltown, formerly of Traer, died Thursday, May 15, 2014, at the Iowa Veterans Home, Marshalltown. Services: 12:30 p.m. Sunday, May 25, at Iowa Veterans Home, Marshalltown.
Refreshments will follow the service. Burial: Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center, with military rites. Overton Funeral Home, Traer, is in charge of arrangements.

Ruth Anne Freeburg was born Sept. 20, 1952, in Charles City, Iowa, daughter of the Rev. Dr. Gordon Neil Freeburg Sr. and Dr. Rosanne Crichton Geldert Freeburg. She graduated high school from Davenport West in 1970. Ruth served her country in the United States Army from 1971 to 1972 and was in the Army Reserves for many more years. She worked as a registered nurse in Vinton, Iowa City, Traer and Cedar Rapids.
Ruth loved crafts, gardening, fishing, camping, running and other outdoor activities.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Ruth is survived by her mother; a son, Jason (Jessica) Burroughs of Grundy Center; a daughter, Jaime Burroughs of Cape Cod, Mass.; two brothers, Dr. William John (Margaret) Freeburg and Gordon Neil (Laura) Peterson; two sisters, Merrilee Freeburg (Paul) Tomlinson and Minnetta Freeburg (Patrick) Costa; and four grandchildren, Kassidy, Austin, Brittany and Ava Ann.
