Pugh, David 'Warren'
David “Warren” Pugh, 86, of Oak Park Heights, Minn., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died April 29, 2011, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minn. A memorial service will be held May 14 at Boutwells Landing Chapel in Oak Park Heights. Burial services for Warren and his wife, Margaret, will take place at a later date in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
Survivors include his children, David (Kay) of Wheaton, Ill., Sara Handrahan (John) of Osceola, Wis., and Stephen (Barbara) of Merrimack, N.H.; brothers, Eugene (Virginia) and Eldon (Margaret), both of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Chris Handrahan (Amanda), Erin Mitchell (Brandon), Rachel Fish (Jordan), Robin Morrice (Brian) and Benjamin Pugh; and one great-granddaughter, Morgan Mitchell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David R. and Sylvia (Clem) Pugh, and his wife of 60 years, Margaret.
Warren was born March 12, 1925, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He graduated from McKinley High School and began studying at Coe College. He served in the Army during World War II, stationed in Europe as part of the 104th Timberwolves Division. Upon his return he finished studying at Coe, graduating in 1949. Also in 1949, Warren married Margaret Hawkins of Cedar Rapids and moved to Milwaukee, Wis., to start his 38-year career as an accountant with the Wisconsin Electric Power Co.
Warren and Margaret moved to Fairfield Bay, Ark., in 1989 to enjoy their retirement. In 2004, they moved to Boutwells Landing in Oak Park Heights, Minn. Warren enjoyed good music, fishing, camping, traveling, cheering for the Green Bay Packers of which he was a proud shareholder, and spending time with his family and friends.
He was a kind and patient man with a great sense of humor and quick wit.
