Sorci, Michael A.
Michael A. Sorci, 101, of Cedar Rapids, died Aug. 13, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center following a sudden illness. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Garden of Eternal Love section. Arrangements entrusted to Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include his grandchildren, Michael and wife Julie of Johnston, Delores Hartley and husband Tony of Fairfax and Diane Burrows of Cedar Rapids; five great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Luzella; and son, Richard.
Michael Angelo Sorci was born March 25, 1908, in Chicago, the son of Giacinto and Anne (Rizzo) Sorci. He married Luzella Greenlee on Dec. 2, 1928, in Chicago. She preceded him in death in 1997. He was employed as a sales manager at Smulekoff's from 1947 to 1984. Before moving to Cedar Rapids, he was a deputy sheriff for Cook County in Chicago. He was also involved with politics during his time in Chicago.
