Awards

The Iowa Area Development Group, on behalf of Iowa's rural electric cooperatives and member municipal electric systems, presented the Iowa Venture Award to eight companies, including Clickstop in Urbana and Royal Oaks Development Corp. in Bellevue and Peosta, for “significant contributions in diversifying and strengthening Iowa's economy.”

Greater Iowa City Area Home Builders Association named Mellinger & Sons 2011 Builder of the Year. Mellinger & Sons also owns a cabinet company, Cabinetworks. 2011 Remodeler of the Year went to Carpentry by Chris, owned by Chris Weckmann.

The 2011 HBA Associate of the Year Award was awarded to Dave Oglesby with Plumbers Supply Co.

Associated Builders and Contractors of Iowa announced that Garling Construction Inc. in Cedar Rapids has achieved the silver level of ABC's Safety Training and Evaluation Process program.

Seminars

The Iowa City Area Chamber of Commerce will host three sessions about its trip to Ireland. Two webinars are scheduled for noon and 4 p.m. Thursday. New Name

Vector Corp. of Marion, a subsidiary company of the Freund Corp. of Tokyo, Japan, will change its name to Freund-Vector Corp., effective Jan. 1. There has been no change in the company personnel or services.

Cambridge TEMPositions announced Helping Hands Ministry of Cedar Rapids as the winner of its Spirit of Thanksgiving temporary help giveaway. The organization will receive one free day of temporary staffing.
