Fire station building stands out downtown
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Aug. 24, 2013 11:29 am
It is a delightful surprise that the new Central Fire Station is beautiful and has some class for a change. It almost has me forgiving the tearing down of the old train depot.
Most of the newer buildings in the downtown area have gray or light beige-colored panels that are bland as oatmeal. The panels make the buildings look like they are not finished. The downtown area also is going to be noted for the bar population and the fights. A few weeks ago there were two serious fights within one week. (Count the number of bars down there. I lost count between First Avenue and Second Avenue alone on one streets).
But, oh, we want to promote the downtown area and make it unique. It has been a fine start.
