Life begins at fertilization

Some observations related to state Rep. Kim Pearson's bill, HFl53, which recognizes the pre-born child as a person:
I attended Scott Roeder's trial in Wichita, Kan. Witness Shelly Steadman, a witness for the prosecution with a master's degree in forensic biology and laboratory manager at the Sedgwick County Regional Forensic Science Center, testified at the trial. She displayed Dr. George Tiller's DNA on the big screen for all to see. She showed Tiller's DNA lined up with the DNA of blood on Roeder's shoe. She showed a picture of a man, woman and a child.
She said, when the sperm and egg unite, there is a new DNA, a new human being, a new person with a new genetic code. She said, “Life begins at fertilization!”
